When Australian National ended the operation of passenger trains in Tasmania in 1978, the passenger equipment and other surplus rolling stock was sold off and much of it ended up in other states.
To arrive at the Queenscliff station in Victoria at first glance is like going back in time back to the days of the Tasmanian Government Railways. Apart from the colour of a few carriages, this is vintage TGR. Photos taken 30th November 2000.
X20 is the other X class at this site.
Shunting loco VA1 is in the later TGR livery.
V8 is parked in front of ex TGR steam loco M6. On the right is a DP railcar.
M6 was undergoing some sort of repair or inspection, as the dome cover was off.
The paint on this guards van is very different to its original.
