NEWSMay 11: Tasmanian Railways P/L have announced that they are going to use the name TASRAIL for the new entity. This is the name that has been used for the Tas. railways since about 1986 and is still on many of the locos, as Pacific National did not repaint many of their engines. TASRAIL has also set up a new website www.tasrail.com.au on which you can see their new logoMarch 16: Well the changeover to Tasmanian Railways Pty. Ltd took place as scheduled on Dec 1 2009. At first there was no great change but over the last couple of months there has been alterations to train running, all of which seems to be as if Pac Nat were still running the show!, with the Bell Bay line closed, no overnight train service from Hobart to Burnie, all of which does not seem to bode well for the future. Train 36 now leaves Hobart at 3am, not arriving in Burnie until 12 hours later, only bright side is that it does run every day. No sign yet of a new corporate livery either. |
