The Emu Bay Railway celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1997, and was taken over by the
Australian Transport Network (Tasrail) in 1998.

2 Oct 1997. On the footplate of Dubs No. 8 during EBR Centenary celebrations.
This scene is from our video "Centenary", and was taken on the footplate as the train was heading
from Rosebery to Boco siding with a special run for schoolchildren, a very similar trip
to the Boco run 9 years earlier, shown below.

"Bicentenary Specials" from Rosebery, the first steam trains on the Emu Bay
Railway in 24 years.

This is an example of the changes that came to the EBR under Tasrail ownership.
Until then the line was the exclusive domain of the 10 and 11 class diesel - hydraulics,
and diesel - electrics with 3 axle bogies were thought to be unsuitable.
However there has been no problems with them on the line.
