Location of Montezuma Falls
This road was originally the track bed of the North East Dundas railway line which brought ore from the Williamsford mine to Zeehan for smelting. The railway is shown in purple, the 4WD track runs between the Highway (yellow) and the falls.
It was famous for having the worlds first Garratt articulated steam locomotives. One of these engines was returned to England some time after the closure of the line, and is currently being restored for operation in North Wales.

This picture gives an idea of the deep cuttings, a feature of this line
All the old bridges on this line have gone, here the Toyota is leaving the trackbed and heading for a creek crossing.

And a steep climb out back to the trackbed.
Another more rocky crossing
Not much room to park at the end of the track
A view of the falls. The original 2 foot gauge railway crossed the river here, and continued on to Williamsford.
This scene is similar to the falls on the Cairns-Kuranda railway
This bridge is the only way across now.

On the way out, another cutting.
